Along with Reiki, the music is great for crystal healing. With crystals, the music is very effective in removing blockages and distortions from the energy fields. Each piece resonates with the corresponding crystal which makes it more beautiful and brings a knowing smile to my face. But you don’t have to practice Reiki to enjoy this cd. The music on this cd is broken down into 5 minute tracks to be used with the 12 basic hand positions in Reiki. The inside cover of the CD gives an overall look at Reiki as a healing art, a primer on Reiki Healing Sessions with the 12 positions of the hands for healing, the principles of Reiki, a brief history, and then an overview of the music. Llewellyn did an excellent job of combining electronic music and natural sounds in music that is soft but not elevator music. It has his magical touch to it, making it more than just background music. It is more of a meditative flow, and a de-stressing sound. I have had the opportunity to work Reiki with this music, and besides the 5 minute timing that enables you to concentrate on healing rather than timing, it also is not distracting while being just at the edge of where you are when you are working with Reiki. Some of the Reiki Teachers I have had the opportunity to share this with like the music and all of my subjects said it was soothing and not overbearing. I found this package to be well presented, with a very good explanation of Reiki for the beginner and well thought out for the benefit of the Reiki practitioner. And the choice of Llewellyn for the composer of this music was, in my opinion, the best choice for this CD. A good addition to the music library of any Reiki practitioner, and if you are not, then give this a listen and see if it isn’t one of the best relaxation CD’s you have heard in a while. Rainbow Reiki sets forth with the intent, according to the subtitle, of “expanding the reiki system with powerful spiritual abilities.” This amazingly short text of 175 pages extensively explores the vast expanse of rainbow reiki technique and application. This thorough examination of the topic will prove beneficial to the reader with only minimal difficulty. Walter Lubeck, a Reiki Master and author of several books, including Complete Reiki Handbook, Reiki: Way of the Heart, and others, is the founder and director of the Reiki-Do Institute. He has developed rainbow reiki as a means of incorporating additional alternative healing modalities, such as channelling, astral travel, reiki essences, and others, into synergistic combination with reiki healing. As a synergism of the parts, this expanded reiki method promises to supply the practitioner with a wide range of potent techniques. Most Reiki practitioners will probably feel quite comfortable within the world of Rainbow Reiki. Lubeck is quite thorough in detailing both the history of Usui reiki and the development of rainbow reiki. The prerequisites for performing the techniques he offers are explained in great detail. As the reader moves forward through the text, he/she will find chapter after chapter rich with techniques, ranging from aura and crystal techniques to uses of mandalas and power vortices…and much, much more. Perhaps few will be able or inclined to use or master all that is offered in this book; but everyone is sure to come away from reading it with at least a few new practices to add to their repertoire. The difficulties with Rainbow Reiki are minimal. Stylistically, Rainbow Reiki is written in a somewhat dry, academic tone that some readers may find difficult to endure. Nonetheless, perseverence will reap rewards for the diligent reader. The only other point of issue is that Reiki I practitioners may feel left out since most of the practices of the book are specifically directed for use by more advanced reiki practitioners. This need not be the case, however, if the Reiki I reader uses this book to spur them on to advancement to higher levels and as a means of familiarizing themselves with some of the practices that await them as they advance. In conclusion, Rainbow Reiki, though moderately difficult to read, is well worth the effort for the sheer wealth of techniques so extensively explained in its pages. The astrological associations are dealt with and various therapies for cleansing and activating the chakras are covered in great detail. These include sound, colour, gemstone, and aroma therapies plus colour meditation and different forms of yoga. In addition, there are chapters on chakra breathing, reflex zone massage and physical exercises for releasing blocked energies. The appendix includes tables on the charkas and their associated factors like symbols, colours, elements, hormones, musical tones and aromas. The text is enlivened with many black and white figures, illustrations and tables, and the book concludes with a short bibliography. The Chakra-handbook is the most comprehensive work on the subject that I have encountered, providing practical information in a simple, easily understood manner. I highly recommend it to practitioners of esoteric healing and to all readers who are interested in familiarising themselves with their own energy bodies for a more fulfilling and abundant life.
