This particular book shows how we can use psychic energy as a tool for deepening our spirituality, strengthening our faith, healing our minds and bodies, and learning to live with more joy in our lives. Once this phenomenon is understood, the results can bring about profound change.

The foreword is written by Melvin L. Morse, M.D., author of Transformed by the Light and Closer to the Light, was superbly written. He states that there is a sound scientific basis for "explaining how mediums can talk to the dead and facilitate spiritual and physical healing" (page xv).

There were parts of this book that were riveting. There were others that I perused very quickly, given my need at the time in question. No doubt, there are topics that I shall revisit. I thoroughly enjoyed her discussions regarding The Other Side, especially as my father made that particular transition on July 24, 2000. One of the most fascinating statements that Sylvia shares with the reader is that .... "The Other Side is right here among us, another dimension superimposed on our own world, some three feet about our version of ground level. Its vibrational frequency is much higher than ours, which is why we don't perceive it" (page 13). Residents living on The Other Side are very active - studying, working, conducting research. "Our purpose in coming here is to learn and to gain knowledge, as the sensing, experiencing extensions of God we all are" (page 17).

As you can see, a little bit of something for everyone.

I did some personal checking into The Society of Novus Spiritus after reading this book. The Society of Novus Spiritus was founded by Sylvia Browne to promote a Gnostic Christian community of people who seek to be guided by the Light and are dedicated to living a spiritual life. All are encouraged to seek the perfection of their soul, meet God on their own terms, and activate their own unique inner spark of divinity. This requires bonding the intellect to the emotion, a process which naturally occurs as we replace centuries of social, cultural, and religious ignorance with knowledge and Light. This is something that I plan to explore further as a result of a personal interest that I have developed with regards to Gnosticism.
