At some point in one's life, all ask themselves the same question; namely - Who Am I? It is in the asking that we find ourselves embarking on a journey of a spiritual nature. Solomae writes that this journey usually begins around midlife ... "between the ages of thirty-five and forty and continues until our physical death" (page 18).

There is an inherent difference between religion versus spirituality.

Religion was created by man and is based on words and doctrine. Spirituality, on the other hand, is not based on any given dogma save that personal search for the inner truth that resides within. "As we continue our search we find answers coming to us in many forms and we begin to understand the nature of the universe, through our own experiences" (page 19).

Solomae speaks about an untapped energy (known as Kundalini) which is the driving and insurmountable force behind this inner search. As this energy is activated within the body we experience a "union with our Divine soul" (page 19). The more intense our desire for this union becomes, the more the energy of Kundalini stirs.

These very words have merely whetted my appetite to learn more about Kundalini.

Solomae states that we need naught have any prior knowledge about Kundalini in order to activate the energy. It is but a natural stage of our evolution as a Divine being.

As I continued to read further, I discovered numerous similarities between Solomae and myself.

* I am also a Type A personality as I am always on the go.
* From an emotional standpoint, I, too, have always been one to cry at movies, to cry to songs on the radio, to cry over television commercials (especially those put forth by the Church of the Latter Day Saints).
* Given the war and suffering that seems to prevade the planet, like Solomae, I find it excruciatingly difficult to watch the news on TV.

Meditation aided Solomae in her transformation beginning. She began to explore basic holistic therapies and alternative viewpoints to organized religion. She became a vegetarian and began studying for a degree in holistic nutrition. Such is what lead her to discover Reiki (an ancient Tibetan healing art that is similar to the laying on of hands).

From a personal standpoint, I have an interest in many of these same topics and am currently a pecso-lacto-ovo vegetarian.

Energy is the basis of all life. "Energy is the common thread that connects us to each other, to all plant and animal life, to the planet and beyond. At the energetic level we are all the same ONE" (page 26). Once the Kundalini energy has been activated, once you are able to feel its physical presence within your very body, it become impossible to doubt that connection to a Divine source.

Eureka!

It appears, to myself, that this direct experience with the Divine is one that we are meant to live.

I believe that living this experience will enable us to remember that we are not separate from each other, separate from other forms of life, or separate from the earth. We are all inter-connected.

I have touched on a few key points from Part 1 which chiefly deals with the discovering. It is in this section of the book that Solomae takes the reader through her experiences as they happened. It was in Part 1 that I discovered similarities between Solomae and myself. It made it much easier for me to relate to her words. Part 2 deals with integration and understanding for it is in the sharing and explanation of her insights that she provides us with an understanding. Part 3 provides information for those ready to experience their own Divine connection.

So, you ask, how does one go about activating the Kundalini energy of which Solomae speaks with an inner knowingness?

By allowing yourself to feel Solomae's words whilst also attempting to understand the experiences that she shares, one is more able to become a different person with ... "new beliefs, new ideas and an expanded awareness of what constitutes reality" (page 31).

As stated above, the information contained within the very pages of this book have merely served to whet my appetite for more knowledge, more understanding, more integration so that I, too, can become one with the physical presence of the Kundalini.
