When we think of personal transformation we think in terms of changing ourselves. We envision making changes in our lifestyle, in our career, in our attitudes and beliefs about ourselves and in our view of the world. While these things are definitely part of a personal transformation, they come not through striving, but through effortless surrender.
Who among us has not been in awe of the amazing synchronicities and coincidences which come our way when we begin to follow our heart on our life path. This is part of the spiritual awakening that is happening on the earth. As we pursue our joy and follow unquestioningly where our heart leads us, our path opens up before us as the universe makes way for our emergence as spirit and we are more closely aligned with our soul's purpose and essence.
When we consciously decide to follow our heart and embark on the challenging task of surrendering our intellect to the process, we encounter much resistance. Our logic kicks in as we question our gut instincts. We analyze our actions, carefully weighing all possible motives and outcomes before we make a move. We have been taught to value our ability to reason and pursue the most logical conclusion. The problem is, logic is based on past experience and the expected reactions from the world around us. Our logic is hindered by our current perception of ourselves!
If we instead surrender our logical mind to the process of transformation without any preconceived ideas or expectations, Sprit is free to work for us and through us. If we allow ourselves to be accepting of each and every instance, regardless of our perception of it, we are free to live in the present moment. Spiritual surrender is necessary for a true transformation because we cannot possibly hope to follow Divine will if we do not first abandon our will. The total peace and happiness we seek is only possible through alignment with Divine will.
How do we know if we are following Divine will? How can we know what Divine will is? The answer is simple......surrender. You do not have to know. If you think you know, then you are mistaken and have allowed your intellect to guide you. To rest in the place of not knowing, to allow yourself to be, trusting that the next door will open is what surrender feels like. Being comfortable with not knowing yet having total faith that everything is coming to you exactly as it is meant, is true transformation and is an ongoing process. To give up the need to control, to plan, to worry, is true peace and alignment with Divine will. The thoughts and doubts that creep in are what cause our unrest. Recognize these for what they are, an attempt of the intellect to "be in charge", and surrender them to the process. Your doubts are not reality, they are only thoughts. Recognizing this by not following them when they arise (as is our habit) will allow you to stay in that place of surrender and peace. It is this space that is needed for Spirit to do its work.
Simply accept your feelings and trust them. Follow your heart without question. Disregard the practical and trust that you are being led to merge with the Divine essence that is your soul. Pursue all things that you are led to, there are no coincidences and you must honor all that is working in your life. When problems arise, take note that they are lessons and ask to be shown the lesson and move past it as quickly as possible. Let your heart guide you, trust your feelings, use your intuition and surrender to the process. Let love guide you in all you do. Open your heart and be real. Accept totally all that you are and relish each day as it unfolds. There is no need to control or plan. Let go of limiting perceptions about yourself and allow your true self to emerge, this is the greatest gift you have to give, it is the reason you are here. This is personal transformation and it brings about a global transformation and healing on all levels.
