Welcome to Crystal Wisdom. By my very nature, I am a researcher. Between reading actual text and/or related articles on the internet, it is my aim to feature regular articles pertaining to the metaphysical and healing properties of crystals and gemstones.
I have been able to compile a Gemstones and Crystals Book List that many of you may wish to peruse. I currently own 13 books on the very subject, which shows how serious I am about wanting to learn more. Currently, I am involved in the creation of prototypes for several gemstone kits that feature my domain name and graphic (Portals of Spirit).
Recently I read a book entitled The American Indian Secrets of Crystal Healing by Luc Bourgault (ISBN 0572022638). There were words stated within that moved me greatly; words that I feel are essential to make note of here ......
| To begin with, the first crystal with which you work, which you clean, polish and purify, must be yourself. It is an illusion to think that you can work effectively with crystals if you have not already started to work on yourself (17). |
| You must understand that the crystal is a tool. It is not the crystal which will do the work but the person who holds it and who channels their will to heal into it (18). |
| If you do not purify the crystal that is you - it is wrong to believe you will obtain beneficial results from crystal therapy (18). |
| Meditation, prayer and physical exercises are all appropriate means of achieving purification of, and control over, one's thoughts, feelings, words and gestures (18). |
| It is important to understand that we are all like a great lake, where all our thoughts are waves which reach many people before touching the shore and returning to us. Thus, if you have a bad thought about someone, it will touch that person and subsequently come back to you. You must therefore be very careful about what you think (19). |

| Everything that we think, say and do is registered, expressed and amplified by the crystals. If you possess a power such as that of working with crystals, you have also the responsibility for it. With any power there comes responsibility (24). |
| Crystals are the eyes, the ears, the nose and the mouth of the Earth, which uses them to see, to hear, to smell and to taste. It is also through them that it communicates with its other brothers and sisters, with other planets in the solar system. Each crystal taken from the Earth maintains its contact with the heart of the Earth. In many ways crystals are a little like the eye of God, communicating to the heavens and the Earth the thoughts and actions of humanity (24). |

| It is very important to think about the health of Mother Earth when working with crystals, because one is manipulating some very private parts of her body. She is quite happy to accept this form of crystalline life, so one must respect it by respecting each crystal, which belongs to her body. Significantly, the American Indians call stones and crystals the bones of Mother Earth (24-25). |

Crystals are very powerful tools and it is possible to make mistakes if a) they are wrongly used, b) you are not in a state of perfect balance, or c) you are not able to sense correctly the level of healing which the person you are treating can cope with, both physically and spiritually. With your hands, however, it is impossible to make such mistakes (69). |
| Your hands are natural healing instruments which are adaptable and allow the people you are treating to draw only what they need from you. It is therefore particularly beneficial to learn how to use your hands properly for healing before working with crystals (69). |
Indeed, Luc's words are most powerful and merit careful re-reading and reflection.
